The pottery

The pottery was first opened in 2000 by potter Camilla Garret-Jones and has run as a working pottery hosting classes and workshops, taught by herself and Jo Walker ever since.

In 2025, Camilla moved her personal pottery practice to her home in Culross, and former pottery assistant Sarah Lyth has taken on the running of the studio.

  • Sarah originally studied Photography at Edinburgh College of Art and later began attending pottery classes whilst working in design.

After a change in career, she helped Camilla in the pottery whilst setting up her own studio at the local Fire Station Creative.

Since taking over the running of the pottery, Sarah does everything from organising classes, reclaiming clay, making glazes, to cleaning the floor.

You might see her teaching a beginner’s course in 2026.

  • Jo originally studied jewellery at Edinburgh College of Art and later discovered clay and has developed her unique and intricate style. Jo’s work can be found for sale in galleries and at ceramics fairs.

Everyone is in great hands with Jo as their tutor. With a wealth of experience, she knows how to teach every technique and support every project idea that pupils can think of.
